Jon and Kiara met online, via Facebook Dating, starting their first conversation around August 2019. Their first date was at a Chinese restaurant called Imperial Garden. Subsequent dates followed, including playing Dungeons & Dragons and going to Wichita’s Botanica Gardens in December. Things were made official on December 20th, 2019. Almost immediately, Jon was welcomed into Kiara’s family with loving arms and invited to any family gatherings they may have had. Jon began staying over at Kiara’s place until he was practically living there – and then they found their own place summer 2020 to move into!
Both Jon and Kiara shared a love for anime, gaming, cats, and exploring! So began a ‘Super Saturday Shenanigans’ trend for a while, where they would either pick a random destination once or twice a month and go exploring – or, they’d pick an activity to do nearby, like go to the theater or enjoy a yummy meal! Kiara introduced Jon to “real” ramen – and now he can’t look at Maruchan the same.
Although their first rental was short-lived, they found another small and quirky house to call home for a few more years. It rested along some railroad tracks and one end of the house was more narrow than the other… but it was theirs. It was easy to find and fun to try and describe! Plus, it made for some pretty cool photos at dusk and dawn.
On December 20th, 2022, Jon popped the question, asking Kiara to marry him while they were on vacation to Wichita’s Botanica Gardens. She, of course, said yes.
Some time later, they finally got to a comfortable place to make an official decision on the date after deciding on the location – Saturday, October 23rd, 2027.
